Located in Hangzhou, the Air Box is a 275 square meter residential house that stands out for its unique interior architectural form. Mu Yuan has cleverly divided the space into two parts by building an air box in the living room. This innovative design element forms an indoor "outside" space, becoming the focal point of the house. The Air Box is a surprise element that adds a new dimension to the space, making it a timeless piece of architecture.
The design draws its inspiration from the simplicity and purity of black, white, and gray colors. Mu Yuan's use of structuralism allows for a clever arrangement of light, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the space. The minimalist approach to design is evident in the restrained use of lamps and lanterns, which illuminate every corner of the space with precision. The first lamp in the house, in particular, adds a sense of ceremony to the space.
The Air Box is a testament to Mu Yuan's technical expertise and innovative approach to design. The marble floor, with its low-key and highly tensile texture, extends from the cloister to each area, adding warmth to the space. The use of warm carpet and comfortable cloth sofa in the living room, along with the wood floor, neutralizes the coldness of the marble, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
The project, which started in July 2018 and was completed in September 2019, presented several design challenges. However, Mu Yuan's innovative approach to design and commitment to creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces enabled him to overcome these challenges. The result is a unique residential space that is not only visually appealing but also functional and emotionally engaging.
The Air Box is a testament to Mu Yuan's commitment to creating spaces that are not only visually appealing but also functional and emotionally engaging. This innovative design, which has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award, is a testament to Mu Yuan's technical expertise and innovative approach to design.
With the Air Box, Mu Yuan has truly redefined modern residential architecture. The design, with its unique architectural form and innovative use of space, is a testament to Mu Yuan's commitment to creating spaces that are not only visually appealing but also functional and emotionally engaging.
